Top 10 Book Boyfriends in 2011

Wooo just this one and then I’m all caught up! This one is going to be difficult.
1. Eric Northman from the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris
There will never be a year when a Sookie Stackhouse novel releases that Eric wouldn’t make this list. I don’t care what kind of stupid things he does.
2. Shane Collins from the Morganville Vampire novels by Rachel Caine
Okay, so I have about three books to catch up on in this series, but I. Love. Shane.
3. Sean Griswold from Sean Griswold’s Head by Lindsey Leavitt
Totally crush-worthy.
4. Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter novels by JK Rowling
I don’t care. He will always make my list. Always.
5. Puck from the Iron Fey novels by Julie Kagawa
I like how he’s mischievous.
Drawing (which is awesome) from Deviantart
6. Finnick Odair from the Hunger Games novels by Suzanne Collins
Okay, so this isn’t technically 2011, but I DON’T CARE. Finnick is too good to not be on this list. What a babe.
7. Will from the Ghost and the Goth novels by Stacey Kade
Love him!
8. Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter novles by JK Rowling
Since the movie came out in 2011, he counts...right?
9. Thomas from the Maze Runner novels by James Dashner
He always tries to do the right thing. <3
10. Ben from the Elixir novels by Hilary Duff
I know. But, he’s totally swoon-worthy!

Pottermore... So What is it?

I am writing this on no sleep and way too much coffee, but Pottermore is here! I loved following all of the #Pottermore tweets... it was highly entertaining. These are the days when I love social media (okay, I love it all of the time).

Edited to add links to pictures!
*Pottermore Gateway to Gryffindor
*Hogwarts Express
*The Chessboard Chamber
*Christmas at Hogwarts
*JK Rowling
*JK Rowling at Pottermore Office (PS. How amazing would it be to work there?)
Here are parts of the press release, which you can find all of here:
*"For this groundbreaking collaborative project, J.K. Rowling has written extensive new material about the characters, places and objects in the much-loved stories, which will inform, inspire and entertain readers as they journey through the storylines of the books. Pottermore will later incorporate an online shop where people can purchase exclusively the long-awaited Harry Potter eBooks, in partnership with J.K. Rowling’s publishers worldwide, and is ultimately intended to become an online reading experience, extending the relevance of Harry Potter to new generations of readers, while still appealing to existing fans."

*"On entering, you choose a magic username and begin your experience. As you move through the chapters, you can read and share exclusive writing from J.K. Rowling, and, just as Harry joins Hogwarts, so can you. You visit Diagon Alley, get sorted into a house, cast spells and mix potions to help your house compete for the House Cup."

*"J.K. Rowling’s announcement on YouTube and sony.com today revealed that Pottermore (along with the Pottermore Shop) will be open to all users in October 2011. From today, 23rd June, fans can submit their email addresses on Pottermore.com in order to be contacted by the site following the opening of registration on 31st July, Harry’s birthday. Also on that date, an online challenge will be launched, whereby the first million people to complete their registration will gain early entry into the website, and help put final touches to the experience."

So, we don't have too much information, but on July 31, you can find out how to gain early access into Pottermore. Then it is open to the general public in October. Original content, ebooks, audiobooks. My wallet is going to hate me. It's all still sort of mysterious, but exciting! Plus, this video sort of rocks. The things they did with that book are amazing. So, what are your thoughts? I'll come back and comment more once I am a little more coherent. <3

Pottermore? Yes, please.

I'm sure that you have heard of the announcement from JK Rowling that will be happening in 6 days, 12 hours, 20 minutes, 0 seconds (and counting). If not, check out the website
Image is a screencap of the website mentioned above
First, I love her handwriting. Second, how freaking cute is this website? The font? Amazing. The owls? My favorite.
You can also keep JK Rowling's YouTube channel countdown open at all times, like me!

Does this woman know how to create hype, or what? The Harry Potter community is going crazy right now. So, if you know me, you know I love speculating and analyzing. Lets do this.

I have heard that it will NOT be a new book (sad face), but this doesn't rule out an encyclopedia (happy face). I have also heard speculation about an online role-playing game (I could be down with this). Another announcement that I would be jumping for joy about is that rumored documentary of the filming of all seven (well, 8) films.

The possibilities are really endless and I have no clue what this will be. One thing I do know is that this could not have come at a better time. With the last movie approaching, Harry Potter fans are finding themselves in sort of a funk. Yes, we want "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" to grace the screens of our movie theaters, but it is also a bittersweet moment. What happens when the movie exits theaters? There are no more midnight releases to get excited for, no more book releases to speculate about. Nothing. Nothing but the memories of a wonderful journey and the knowledge that we will someday pass the wonderful world that is Harry Potter down to future generations. So, with this, I am super pumped about this JK Rowling announcement. WHAT WILL IT BE?

What do you think she will announce? Are you as excited as I am? Any thoughts on the Potter phenomenon coming to a close? Please discuss this with me in the comments. I NEED TO TALK ABOUT HARRY POTTER*!
*I'm not yelling, this is just a desperate plea. Kay, thanks.

Judge a Book by its Cover: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Whew, our last cover judging for Harry Potter! Seven books make this feel like such a long time. The Sookie Stackhouse books should be interesting *giggle*.
Today we have Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling. *Edited to add that I just noticed the awesome timing of this post with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 coming to DVD here in the US today. I'm going to get my copy, are you?

1. US Hardcover

2. UK Hardcover Children's

3. UK Celebratory Edition

4. UK Hardcover Adult's

5. UK Special Edition

6. UK Signature Edition

All pictures from Amazon and Amazon UK

Look how grown up Harry looks in Number 1! I love it. Honestly, the kid's faces in Numbers 2, 3 and 6 kind of creep me out. These covers have a good concept, but I can't get around their faces. Number 5 is kind of boring, but not bad. As a book nerd, I like the Deathly Hallows symbol on the one grave, but if I didn't know the book, I probably wouldn't be drawn to this one. Number 4 is my absolute favorite. I. Love. That. Locket.

Which one is your favorite? Also, which book cover is your favorite from the whole series?

Judge a Book by its Cover: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Today we have Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling.

1. US Hardcover

2. UK Hardcover Children's

3. UK Celebratory Edition

4. UK Hardcover Adult's

5. UK Special Edition

6. UK Signature Edition

All pictures from Amazon and Amazon UK

I find it interesting that all but Number 4 feature Harry and Dumbledore in some capacity. Numbers 2, 3 and 6 all use the same image. The ring of fire really gives a sense of adventure and draws me in. Number 5 shows them on top of rocks and Number 1 shows them looking at something (the pensieve). Number 4 is the only one to not have people on the cover and it shows a book. We know this to be the half-blood prince's potions book and I love how old and dingy it looks. Weirdly, I actually think Number 4 is my favorite, but this may be because I know the story.

Judge a Book by its Cover: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Today we have Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling.

1. US Hardcover

2. UK Hardcover Children's

3. UK Celebratory Edition

4. UK Special Edition

5. UK Hardcover Adult's

6. UK Signature Edition

All pictures from Amazon and Amazon UK

I really like the writing and the blue cover on Number 1. It's nice how the focus of the covers on 2, 3, 5 and 6 are the phoenix. My favorite out of the four of these is either Number 2 or Number 5. If I knew nothing about the story, I wouldn't have any idea what Number 4 was trying to be. (I think it's supposed to be the prophecy... I could be wrong though.) Does anyone else think JK Rowling's signature is pretty awesome? I love how she signs the "Rowling" part. Number 1 wins for me.

Judge a Book by its Cover: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Today we have Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling.

1. US Hardcover:

2. UK Hardcover Children's:

3: UK Hardcover Adult's:

4. UK Celebratory Edition:

5. UK Special Edition:

6. UK Signature Edition:

All pictures from Amazon and Amazon UK

Number 1 has ventured away from the adventure theme the US ones seem to always have, but I appreciate the addition of the new characters onto the cover. Number 2 shows how the books are becoming a bit darker which is a nice touch. I really like Number 3. The fire coming out of the goblet looks really cool. In Number 4, I really don't like the contrast of the stars with the fire-breathing dragon. It looks a bit out of place. I really like Number 5. It's probably because I know it is the Dark Mark, but it looks really interesting. I wish I would have known about these UK Special Editions before. Bah. Finally, Number 6 is cool again for the signature factor. JK Rowling has a banging signature.

Judge a Book by its Cover: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Today we have  Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban  by JK Rowling.

1. US Hardcover:

2: UK Hardcover Children's:

3. UK Hardcover Adult's:

4. UK Hardcover Special Edition:

5: UK Hardcover Signature Edition:
All images from Amazon and Amazon UK

Here I own Numbers 1 and 3. The editions of Prisoner of Azkaban seem to be a bit different than either Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. In Number 1, I love Harry and Hermione riding the hippogriff. I think it is super cute and it keeps up with the adventure theme from the two previous covers. I think this is the first time the UK Children's Hardcover is similar to the US cover and I appreciate that. This is probably my least favorite of the UK Adult Hardcovers (Number 3). It reminds me of Shutter Island or something. Number 4 is kind of cool. I don't think I have ever seen this one before. I actually really like the "Harry Potter" font used. Number 5 is basically Number 2 with a different border. I do like how it has JK Rowling's signature instead of the usual way the author's name is displayed. It would be pretty cool to have a copy of this one.
