Top 10 Book Covers in 2011

Unlike my first post, these will all be 2011 releases! Once again, in no particular order...
1. Hereafter by Tara Hudson
Love how she fades into the water--fits so well with the story!
2. Wither by Lauren DeStefano
I want this girl’s hair. So much.
3. The Death Cure by James Dashner
I LOVE THIS.
4. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini
Like Hereafter, this one is just so pretty.
5. Beauty Queens by Libba Bray
The lipsticks make this cover for me.
6. Dust & Decay by Jonathan Maberry
I love how this one fits in so well with Rot & Ruin. Must read!
7. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
I still haven’t read this, but this cover is amazing. She. Is. Hovering.
8. Hourglass by Myra McEntire
I haven’t read this one either, but the cover is amazing.
9. Fury by Elizabeth Miles
For obvious reasons, I love when redheads get cover love. This reminds me that I need to read this still.
10. The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
Love the Greek letters!

Top 10 Books I’ve Read in 2011

Sorry these are late--I’ve had an awful cold all week. So I’m going to post Days 1-3 today and then get back to the normal schedule tomorrow. For me, these don’t have to be 2011 releases, but I made them books that I’ve read for the first time in 2011. Also, these are in no particular order since there is no way I could have decided on that!
1. Gone by Michael Grant
This was such a good book and I can’t believe I haven’t started the rest of the series yet. I need to change that in 2012.
2. Sean Griswold’s Head by Lindsey Leavitt
I’m sure you’ll see Sean again on my crush list. This was a very, very cute book!
3. The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
I can’t wait to finish this series. These books leave me with about 1,000 questions. I also don't know why I never review these. Hm.
4. Lockdown: Escape from Furnace by Alexander Gordon Smith
This book was creepy. Super creepy. Awesome.
5. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini
Ah, I was obsessed with this book! You’ll probably see this on the cover love post as well.
6. The Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Shepard
Two words: Guilty pleasure.
7. Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry
I never thought I would like a zombie book, but here you go!
8. Stirred by J.A. Konrath
Obsessed with this series and sad that this is the last one. However, I’m glad it was left open for new spin-offs!

These books are awesome. I also find it interesting that half of my list has male lead characters! Yay!

10. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
Yay for dystopians! I’ve only read the first two, but I must finish these!

This was really hard. I'm going to come at you with the Top 10 Book Covers in 2011 in a little bit and then finish off the day with the Top 10 Book Boyfriends in 2011! Did any of these make your list? Let me know!

From Goodreads: How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.

As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

My Review: I love this cover. I cannot wait to go and get a physical copy of this book--it’s that beautiful. The colors and her flowing dress are gorgeous. The black and white version on the Kindle does not do it justice. The blurb doesn’t even really bother me since it is so small and isn’t a main focus (and you know how much I hate blurbs on the front of books). The only problem I have with this cover is that it seems like her face is cut off at a weird part. It’s not too big of a deal though.
I’ll have to admit, I’m loving this Greek mythology trend in books. I first read The Goddess Test and now Starcrossed. I’ve enjoyed both of them! Granted, I really know nothing about Greek mythology, so I don’t really know if sticklers would enjoy this book or not. If you’re not sure if you want to read this, based on accuracy in Greek mythology, please remember that this is a work of fiction. If you can’t invent something in a fictional world, when can you? (/endrant)
I am insanely jealous of Helen getting to spend time with the super-large Delos family. They seem like such a fun group of people. The supporting characters in this novel were just as fabulous as the main characters. Helen’s best friend, Claire, had me laughing out loud a few times. I can’t say too much without spoiling it, but look for the part where Helen goes to Claire’s house to talk with her (and the following scene). Claire is so funny throughout.
I read this book very quickly because every time I would put it down, it was all I could think about. This, I think, is a testament to how much I enjoyed it.
There was a little bit of insta-love (or, more accurately, insta-hate turned insta-love), but at least it was explained. I cannot wait to see where Josephine Angelini takes this series. Definitely one of my favorite reads of 2011 so far. I can’t wait to re-read this one. Cliff-hanger warning! Go. Buy. This. Book. Now.

Thanks to NetGalley, HarperTeen, and Josephine Angelini for this review copy!

Have you read this? Did you love it as much as I did? I would love to hear your thoughts! (Side note: sorry for the huge gust-fest!)
