Wow, I am doing a lot better with these In My Mailbox’s than I anticipated! This is my third one in as many weeks. You all know the deal by now, In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren and showcases the books bloggers have gotten by any means this week.
Won/Received/I have no idea?:
The Illustrated Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. I am not entirely sure where this one came from, but I think it might be from the Got Books? event? If you sent this to me, let me know so I can give you proper thanks!
Suck It, Wonder Woman!: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek audiobook by Olivia Munn. Won from MacMillan Audio. Thanks--this looks really funny!
Returned to Me:
The Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine. I had sent these out to my friend to read and she returned them to me. She loves Shane just as much as I do--there may be some drool marks left over on the pages from her. ;)
Bought:
Social Meanings of News by Dan Berkowitz. This is for one of my courses in school---I think it’s for Sociology of News and Media Ethics... we shall see how it is.
InDesign CS4: Visual Quickstart Guide by Sandee Cohen and Photoshop CS4: Visual Quickstart Guide by Elaine Weinmann and Peter Lourekas. These are both for my Desktop Publishing class which I am actually really excited about. Lots of magazine layout design, etc.
Question time...
For IMM’s, do you prefer this kind of format or should I give video-blogging a try? Which is more entertaining? If you could let me know in the comments as well as what was in your mailbox this week, that would be amazing!
1. I made it onto your blog! I'm famous! I'm famous! (And I seriously considered not sending them back, JSYK.) Like I said - the drool was TOTALLY there when I got them.
ReplyDelete2. Don't go to a video blog. I like this one, and it loads faster on my iPhone!
So, um, Jess... I am just putting 2 and 2 together that YOU are morelockian hahahaha. I swear I'm an extreme blonde sometimes....I can't wait for the next Morganville book to come out.
ReplyDeleteDuly noted about the video blog :)
I love the Morganville vamps series, but I've only read the first three. I have the fourth one, but I don't really want to read it because I don't have the rest :P Looks like you got some great books, happy reading!
ReplyDelete@The Library Lurker
ReplyDeleteIt's true--I feel that the Morganville ones always end on cliffhangers, so I always wanted the next one nearby before I started reading! Thanks for visiting :)
I have not heard of any of these before. That's what is fun about IMM, you find out about all sorts of new books.
ReplyDelete@Melina
ReplyDeleteThat is so true, Melina! I'm always amazed by all of the different books people are receiving!
Every time I get new books - either in the mail or from the library, I want to start a book blog. Thanks for creating another addiction for me, Kait.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the next Morganville book, I'm kind of sad that it'll be in hardcover. Because I'm going to end up buying all of them, and my OCD won't allow me to switch from paperback to hardcover mid-series. Which means I'll have to wait until 2011 to buy Ghost Town. Aargh. I do this with SO many series!
@morelockian
ReplyDeleteDoooo it! Start a book blog! I feel ya about the series thing. I did that with the Sookie books, but I had to give in a buy the last few hardcover. So perhaps I will slowly start buying the rest in hardcover once I find them on sale. :( It makes me so sad, but good for Rachel Caine for finally getting them published hardcover :)
i'm curious about the olivia munn book, i watch attack of the show all the time. can't wait to hear what you think
ReplyDeleteOh how I love InDesign. It's such a fantastic program, I hope you have fun learning it! I really want to read the Morganville vampire series, I've had them on my list for a while but haven't gotten around to it! Great mailbox this week!
ReplyDeleteLots of great books this week! Hope you enjoy them all! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteYay, Morganville Vampires! I still have books 4-7 of my friend's who let me borrow her Morganville books. Bet you're glad to have them back!
I haven't of C.S. Lewis in forever! That book looks...interesting. ha :)
Vlogs are okay every once in a while if they are short. Some of the best ones also spotlight a bloggers pet in the video and my favorite format will still stay using the book pictures and info about them with some background on where they came from if they were bought, won or borrowed from friends or library....
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my post earlier, I have almost all of the Morganville series waiting on my TBR shelves and need the newest ones in Paperback to read it all in one fell swoop....
Enjoy your loot!
jackie ^_^
Whoa. I love the variety here! Awesome books! (I've been meaning to read the Morganville Vampires series. I checked "Glass House" out at one point and started to read it but I didn't get past the first chapter. But I will check it out again! [once I've lifted my self-laid ban on the library])
ReplyDeleteGreat books this week! Good luck on your classes! I myself have to read "Nickel and Dimed" by Barbara Ehenreich(sp?) and "The Blind Side" by Michael Lewis for AP English III--assignments INCLUDED! (of course)
Happy reading! :D
-Amelia
I still have not read Morganville Vampires. I know! Such a hole in my reading experience. All your comments are making me want to move them closer to the top of my to-be-read pile. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI really need 2 read The Morganville Vampire Series...hopefully soon lol :D Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGreat mailbox!! I have read the first 2 of the Morganville Vampire series and loved them!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading. =)
I have yet to read the Morgan Vampire series...I tried to get them on Ebay, but some jerk zipped out from beneath me. So, I wait till the opportunity happens again. I hope that you enjoy your books. Happy reading. Check out my mailbox
ReplyDeleteI have not read the Morganville Vampire books but have been meaning to. I hear that they are great. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove The Screwtape Letters. I just requested Glass Houses from the library, can't wait till it comes in. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteI really need to read Rachel Caine's series. I haven't gotten around to it yet. Great Mailbox. I was extremely fortunate with some of the books I received :)
ReplyDelete-Ashley
I have not read the Morganville vampire series yet, it is on my "to read" list. I really do need to get to that :)
ReplyDeleteI have one of the books in the Morganville Vampire series but it is one of the later ones--I am going to have to get the earlier ones first before reading (oh another trip to half price books LOL)
ReplyDeleteI love that your reading is so varied. I should have put my statistics and composition books in there but those were forced purchases LOL
Thanks for stopping by my blog! You got a lot of interesting looking books this week!
ReplyDeleteWow, guys.. this response is crazy! Thank you all so much for stopping by and I hope you don't become strangers. :)
ReplyDeleteCarrie--I'll be sure to do a review of the Olivia Munn book--it seems really funny!
Jenny-I'm excited to get to work with InDesign and Photoshop for the first time. Next semester I am hoping to take a digital photo editing course!
Leanna--Thanks! I hope all of them (even the school books) are good.
Stephany--it sure does look interesting, haha we shall see!
Jackie B--Thanks for the input on the vlogs. I would definitely suggest waiting to read all of the Morganville books at once :)
Amelia--I need to ban myself from the library. I have at least 12 checked out and 5 waiting for me there. :( Thanks on the good luck and good luck to you too with your classes!
Resugo, Faye, Trisha---I really like the Morganville books. Especially Shane haha
Lori, Ugh that ebay thing had to have been frustrating!
Kelli--Hope you can read them soon!
Orchid--I'm glad you like the Screwtape Letters.. the book is so pretty with gold edged pages. Hopefully Glass Houses comes in soon for you.
Book Junkies, abookwormshaven--it is hard since there are so many of them!
Felicia--Thanks! It's always fun to read a variety of books. Sometimes I feel like I am reading the same thing over and over again.
Becky--You're very welcome and thank you in return :)
Thanks for stopping buy! Great IMM :) I have always wanted to read the The Morganville Vampire Series but haven't been able to yet. They are all on my very long TBR list.
ReplyDelete@My name is Patricia
ReplyDeleteThank you as well! My TBR list is so long, so I feel your pain. There are so many great books out there that it is hard to choose which ones to read first. :)
WOO PSCS 4!!!! Bought 4 (software) last year can't wait to buy the 5th one (in graphic design school hopefully will be using 5 this year)!!!!! Love magazine/editorial layouts!!!! Happy reading!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuck it Wonder Woman does sound hilarious.
ReplyDeleteGreat books this week and thanks for stopping by my blog!
Dakota--Graphic design school? That's so exciting! I'll be coming to you with my questions hahah
ReplyDelete-k---You're very welcome and thanks go out to you in return.
Thanks for stopping by today; you got some great books this week! I haven't read the Morganville series yet, I'm thinking I should get on that ;)
ReplyDeleteI love friends who actually return my books haha. I've definitely lost some favorites that way. Enjoy all your books!
ReplyDeletethekams--You're very welcome! Thank YOU for stopping by. Yes, I would definitely recommend the Morganville books. I think they're a different take on vampires. I mean these vampires are actually VAMPIRES and a bit bad ass.
ReplyDeleteLizzy--It is always nice when they get returned :) My mom always puts my books on her bookshelf to "get them out of the way before she reads them," but I think she is trying to take them haha
Suck it, wonder woman looks fun! I loove the Morganville series, but I've only had the chance to read like 5 or 6 of the books! :(
ReplyDelete@Kaitlyn (Kaitlyn in Bookland)
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that you're reading a wide variety of differently formatted books - audiobooks, illustrated books, non-fiction, guides...very versatile of you.
I think it'd be lovely to see some video IMMs.
A Definite subscriber!
Tina
That wonder woman one looks hilarious! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome books! I just started reading Glass Houses and loved it! I cannot wait to get my hands on the other books.
ReplyDeleteYA Vampire Books--I hope you get the chance to read the rest of them!
ReplyDeleteTina--Thank you for the very kind words. You have no idea how much it means!
Susan--It sure does :)
Elizabeth--I hope you enjoy the rest of the series as much as I have and I hope the upcoming ones are just as good!
I am so in love with Shane too. Just don't tell my hubby :)
ReplyDelete@Cleverly Inked
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I'll keep it a secret!
Morganville Vampires! I love that series! (Well, I have read the first one, own the rest, and already love Shane...) Hope you enjoy all of the books you received this week! (Sorry for replying a week late!)
ReplyDelete@Kaitlyn (Kaitlyn in Bookland)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't even know how to start. How to get a page, how to create a layout, how to post...Too many how-to's for words. My time is probably better spent reading the books on my "to-read" list and just posting on goodreads! It does sound like fun, though!
@morelockian
ReplyDeleteIt's super simple, I mean I am doing it... it can't be that hard haha
Watch out, I hear there are Mockingjay spoilers floating around Goodreads! Ugh.
@Corrine
ReplyDeleteNo matter, thanks for stopping by! You'll only love Shane more, trust. He's a serious babe.
You. Me. Hanging out one weekend. You teaching me how to create a book blog, me feeding you baked goods. Sound like a plan? I may be serious - be careful how you answer!
ReplyDelete@morelockian
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect. I really like baked goods :)
